Designit are a global award-winning strategic design firm specialising in designing transformative product-service experiences. 

In 2016, they approached Designtalent to help build and then rapidly scale a London studio.

We have been partnering with Designtalent already for an entire year, having them on board to help Designit facing the great challenge of ramping up in the very complex London market.

The challenge

Coming to London would bring with it considerable local and global challenges. Every studio has their own identity but they are uniquely Designit.


How can Designit retain their independent identity, ways of working, culture and people strategy post-acquisition?


The main challenge presented by opening a studio post acquisition in London was how could they retain their independent identity, ways of working, culture and people strategy when entering their first major venture with Wipro. Locally the challenge centred around the fact that London has a notoriously crowded design agency market thus increasing the competition for talent.


The brief

We’re experts in growing innovative businesses. We use a design-led approach to address our client challenges head on. Designit needed to scale quickly and sustainably whilst at the same time develop their employer brand.

The initial brief was to work with Designit for 3-6 months, delivering 2-3 hires per month, localise Talent Acquisition frameworks for the London market and be the voice of their employer brand.

We started with a key hire in the Global Service Director, this served as a solid foundation for the rest of the hiring plan. We went above and beyond our targeted hires, delivering an average of 5 hires a month. Our partnership was extended from the initial 6 months to 12 in which time we delivered a total of 65 hires over and above our target of 24.

We were also asked to help scale their Edinburgh studio. A more strategic and design-led approach to hiring allowed us to scale their operation much more rapidly than anticipated, which meant they could pitch for and win more work, secure in the knowledge that they had the right people in the place to deliver it.  Not only did we help them outperform their hiring target but also their economic results which saw a sharp 25% increase. 

We continue to work with Designit, helping them to grow their UK operations in both London and Edinburgh, whilst elevating their employer brand even further to facilitate organic growth.
